This morning’s flight lifted off just before sunrise, with the sky still wrapped in soft twilight. Within minutes, the sun rose gently behind us, casting golden reflections across our path a breathtaking welcome to the day. As we climbed to nearly 1600 feet above the ground, the balloon caught a graceful wind that carried us toward the river. Below, the Serengeti came alive: a sweeping herd of cape elands, zebras trotting in formation, giraffes gliding through acacia groves, and impalas leaping with ease. Ostriches darted across the plains, cape buffaloes stood proud, and a vast wave of wildebeest moved beneath us like a living tide. Our landing was smooth and upright, a soft touch that left guests smiling and speechless. The morning ended with laughter, stories, and a delicious bush breakfast an unforgettable Serengeti Balloon Safaris experience that touched hearts as much as it thrilled.

A calm morning at the launch site set the tone for a graceful take-off, with Derek, Frank, and I lifting off in sequence. The sky filled with balloons drifting gently downwind a breathtaking sight that delighted our guests from the very start. We enjoyed smooth steerage and crossed the Mara River twice, keeping a respectful altitude over the water. Along the banks, guests were treated to a remarkable scene: hippos, crocodiles, and scavenger birds, with wildebeest gathering in anticipation of a crossing truly unforgettable. The plains offered a rich tapestry of wildlife: zebra, giraffe, elephant, eland, reedbuck, warthogs, hyena, and even a male lion. The abundance and variety made for a magical flight, leaving our guests deeply moved and thoroughly satisfied.

We launched just as the sun kissed the horizon, with breezy conditions guiding us gently down the Seronera River and over the hippo pool. The morning light danced on the water as we floated low, hugging the river’s curves. Jeff spotted lions near the dry riverbed heading toward the water pump, and soon all balloons shifted course. Guests were thrilled to witness over ten lions including playful sub-adult cubs moving gracefully through the golden grass. Landings were calm at Tree One Road and Water Pump, wrapping up a flight rich with sightings: lion, elephant, buffalo, serval, warthog, hyena, and Thompson’s gazelle. Afterward, guests enjoyed a hearty breakfast and shared smiles all around grateful for a morning full of wonder with Serengeti Balloon Safaris.

As the sun rose over Ruaha, our balloons lifted gently into the morning sky. Guests from River Lodge had already glimpsed a lioness on their way to the launch site a thrilling start to the day. We floated along the river, greeted by hippos, elephants, giraffes, and zebra, with Fish Eagles soaring overhead. Lions roared from both sides of the valley, their calls echoing through the still air. In the baobab forest below, elephants wandered with their young, and just before landing, a leopard’s snarl reminded us of the wild beauty hidden in the grass. After a smooth landing, guests enjoyed the traditional champagne toast and a peaceful breakfast surrounded by crowned cranes, baboons, and buffalo. With no other balloons or vehicles in sight, the experience felt deeply personal just nature, sky, and the quiet magic of Ruaha.
