We cruised peacefully along the river, spotting hippos, crocodiles, wildebeest carcasses, and a variety of birdlife including fish eagles, Egyptian geese, and marabou storks. The plains offered sightings of gazelles, impala, warthogs, baboons, black-backed jackals, zebra, giraffes, waterbuck, and banded mongoose. Our balloon flight today saw a spectacularly clear morning with a brilliant sunrise that set the tone for an unforgettable adventure. Though passenger arrival was slightly delayed, we lifted off just 15 minutes after sunrise and were soon gliding peacefully above the river. Guests were treated to breathtaking views of hippos, crocodiles, and wildebeest remains along the banks. The Oxbow was alive with wildlife Thomson’s gazelles, marabou storks, and vultures gathered around a recent kill site. As we drifted away from the river, we encountered a majestic herd of elephants accompanied by buffalo and zebra. Near Sayari, scattered herds of wildebeest mingled with zebra and impala, while giraffes appeared in impressive numbers all the way to Mara Mara Road. Smaller herds of eland and mixed wildlife added to the rich tapestry near our landing site. Guests arrived on time, and all balloons were airborne just as the sun crested the horizon, casting golden light across the Serengeti. The flight followed the river, offering striking views of hippos, crocodiles, and wildebeest remains. Along the Oxbow, guests spotted hyenas, giraffes, and Thompson’s gazelles.
